| hi. I'm Jamie King. Trebor invited me to join this prep list and introduce myself, and this is me doing so. I'm an editor at Mute magazine (www.metamute.com), a member of the Geneva03 collective, which worked at the G8 Evian and is currently organising against the World Summit Information Society (www geneva03.org). I am an activist in the area of intellectual property, from official and unofficial interventions in the WIPO process (sometime as a Fellow of the Civil Society Coalation) to mobilising around issues like commons, drm, p2p (which we did, for example, at the last G8), promoting the transgression of (not just digital) media regimes, community networking (often conspiring with consume.net and James Stevens) &c. I write a bit on (post)autonomist poltical theory, anticapital and so on. I am a Fellow of the University of Minnesota's Design Institute (design.umn.edu), where I teach a little and write on diverse issues tangentially (or should that be tenuously?) related to design and creativity. I haven't read the list archive yet, but I will soon. Cheers, Jamie |
