| Hi there, I am currently finishing up my dissertation in the Department of Anthropology at UC Berkeley on transnational activist networks and the cultural logic and cultural politics of networking within the anti-globalization movement. I conducted my field research with the Movement for Global Resistance (MRG) in Barcelona, and have participated in Peoples Global Action and the World Social Forum processes. Central themes involve the use of new technologies as both network infrastructure and medium for utopian political expression as well as the cultural affinities linking informational capitalism, anarchism and network-based political forms and practices. I have also recently become interested in a new activist project in Barcelona called the "Infospace" and emerging networks surrounding the Hub communication spaces at the European Social Forum and the upcoming World Information Society Forum. In terms of the conference, beyond the overall format, I'd love to work on a panel with folks interested in exploring the multiple intersections among new technologies, network architectures and emerging norms and forms of radical political praxis. Best, jeff |
